Wearable and Telehealth

As per a study published in PRD Journal, Wearable sensors and Telehealth could lead to a better quality of life for PD patients. While it is not an alternative for in-person care, monitoring can still improve exercise habits, sleep patterns, etc as per this study.

Not much impact due to Covid-19

Good news is that, despite Covid-19, the investment on clinical trials and research remains strong as per an article published in a Journal. In fact, there has been a slight increase in the proportion of disease modifying treatments. It is encouraging to see that there is a rich pipeline of novel therapies being developed despite Covid-19. Following is the link to the published article:


Compound to stop neuron degeneration synthesized!

While most of the current remedies are targeted towards suppressing the symptoms, Russian scientists have synthesized chemical compounds that can stop the degeneration of neurons in Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and other severe brain pathologies. There are several surgery options for improving the symptoms of PD. One of them is Deep Brain Stimulation Surgery. In this surgery, electrodes are implanted into the brain. These electrodes, which are controlled by a brain pacemaker, suppress the tremors. Following is one such success story:
